Liquidators looking to sell Hinckley United ground to pay creditors
Liquidators of the former football club Hinckley United, are looking to sell the ground to pay creditors. Talks are said to be at a very early stage, but it is hoped the move could potentially keep football at Hinckley United's Leicester Road stadium.
Interested buyers have already made approaches to insolvency experts BDO following the Knitters' liquidation at the High Court in Birmingham on Monday, October 7. The football club went to the wall with debts of more than £2 million.
Legal action was brought by former chairman Kevin Downes, who resigned in July last year, claiming the club owed him more than £187,000.
Hinckley AFC is a community owned club established in January 2014. Following the liquidation of Hinckley United its fans have come together to create this new club. The club aims to promote football for all in the Hinckley and Bosworth community built on a structure of one vote per member.
The club is committed to investing its money into football at all ages in the community, with a constitutional promise not to take any profits out of the club.
