the Hird Dimension:
and she's riding that stairlift to heaven Hello my darlings, well from my stairlift in heaven I've been looking down on you all, and in particular that lovely football team in red & blue. Me and Jimi Hendrix love a bit of 'knitting' of an evening and we really can't wait for Geri Halliwell to join us for a threesome. Knit one, Perl one, deary. So we thought what better way to pass our time than to follow the Knitter's football team.
There isn't that lovely, then.
The knitting lounge was a bit more sparse tonight than it was for the Crawley match. Hinckley were defending their Rolleston Charity Cup title, whatever that is? Jimi informed me this is s Leicestershire invitational cup competition sponsored by the Rolleston Foundation. Tonight Hinckley would be playing Lougborough Dynamo, who Jimi tells me play in the Leicestershire Senior League. Hinckley had selected a virtual reserve side, with even Dean Thomas and Charlie Palmer putting on their old leather boots.
Loughborough had a couple of early half chances from Chris Joyce and Dave Burraway that Youth keeper Dave Clarke was able to deal with, but then Hinckley took the lead after 25 odd mins. Dean Thomas, who had already hit the bar, was about 35 yards out and hit one of his 'screamers'. 5 minutes later Thomas had another 30 yarder go just wide. That was about it for the first half. Even less happened in the second half. Hinckley were still scrappy and Loughborough never put any real pressure on all game. Joyce again wasted another opportunity late on before Loughborough had their best chance to equalise in the very last minute. Abi O'Thomas had the chance from the penalty spot, after Tom Goodwin had brought down Matt Negus. O'Thomas stepped up to level the scores but Dave Clarke warmed his hands just enough to keep it out and send Hinckley through to the semi finals.
Jimi's verdict: snore bore, too much 'draw'...
