Dean Thomas has boosted his squad after agreeing terms with three new players after
they impressed in the recent friendly against Leicester City, and is negotiating with
a fourth.
Striker Phil Green from Worcester City, former loanee Charlie Raglan, who was released
by Port Vale, and ex-Hull City and Leicester City Youth goalkeeper Rob Peet have all
agreed deals, whilst former Leicester City midfielder Aman Verma is still in talks with
the manager.
DT told the Nuneaton News: “We are bringing in experienced Conference North quality
players. The additions will improve us. Aman wants to come here so we are sorting a
deal out. We’ve agreed with the others already. Aman, Phil and Charlie have all played
at this level or beyond. Rob was with Hull City. He’s only 19, but he’s 6ft 3in and
I’m happy with what I’ve seen from him.”
Hinckley lost their latest friendly 4-1 at home to Leicester, however, DT was
happy to see an improved performance, and a record crowd of 3411 boosting the coffers
an added bonus. Hinckley had managed to stay on level terms with City, 1-1 at half
time, thanks to a superb free kick from Phil Green. However City rolled out the 'big guns'
and powered away with the match for teh secondhalf with David Nugent, Jamie Vardy and
Ben Marshall all scoring excellent goals.
The Board of Directors of Hinckley United Football Club Limited wish to make the following statement:
Kevin Downes and Robert Mayne have resigned from the positions of Chairman and Vice Chairman
respectively with immediate effect. These two resignations will have no impact on any fixtures.
Michael Sutton was unanimously voted in as the Interim Chairman with immediate effect. The
Board are committed to releasing at least one statement a week to keep our shareholders,
staff and supporters updated.
The club have released the list of players retained for the coming season, even if
it is a short list. Players remaining with us are: Paul Lister, Mark Dudley, Jake Holt,
Dan Bragoli and Ben Richards-Everton. The club are still waiting on Richard Lavery to
make his decision as he has had offers from other clubs.
A new player signed for the club is Jason Bradley, a striker who was with Eastwood last
season. Bradley started at Sheffield Wednesday and had spells with Mansfield, Darlington,
Brackley Town and Tamworth.
After acouple of months of asking that question, we can finally say 'the fixtures are
out', and Hinckley United were unusually handed ahome match to start with. After the
last 3 seasons of starting away, we have been handed an opening home game against
Harrogate Town on Saturday 18th August. The christmas/new year games will see us up
against Solihull Moors, with August and April bank holiday games against Histon.
