Having had his contract cancelled by mutual consent at Nuneatin Town, Sam Belcher
has returned to Hinckley United. The midfielder, popular with the fans, was last
at Hinckley for the second half of last season on loan from Wycombe Wanderers, when
he scored 8 goals in 29 games. Upon release from Wycombe he signed a contract for
his home town club, but it didn't work out at Nuneatin and he was released last week.
Bradford City loan singing Luke Dean, has returned to his parent club now his months
loan is expired, but coming into the club from Peterborough United is Jacob Joyce. The
young striker started in the Youth team at Leicester City, before featuring in the
Youth team at Posh, moving up to a regular Reserve player at Peterborough. Joyce
has signed on a works experience loan.
Hinckley United were soundly beaten at home by Histon, as they again failed to find
the back of the net for the fifth time this season.
Hinckley named the same side that had started against Boston, but on this occasion
were somewhat disjointed in midfield and rather casual in defence. The first half
being a rather drab affair with neither side creating much. Histon took the lead
on 15 minutes when Matt Breeze had the freedom of the left flank and as he crossed
low into the area the ball richocheted off Callum Reynolds and past Danny Haystead
into the goal. The closest Hinckley came was a Rob Oddy header that forced Jorg
Stadelmann into a diving save, to turn it away for a corner.
Hinckley lost striker Jermaine Clarke to an injury at half time and were forced to
reshuffle, pushing Danny Newton up front. It was Histon that scored again though,
in controversial circumstances from Hinckley's point of view. Loius Horne was fouled
on the edge of the Histon area, but the ref waved play on. Despite not giving the foul,
the ref then also forced Horne to go off the pitch to receive treatment for his bloodied
face, suffered when he was brought down. Whilst Horne was off the pitch, Histon caught
Hinckley in a breakaway and Lewis Taffe was 1 on 1 with Haystead, and scored Histon's
second goal. Hinckley pushed everything forward but were unable to get the ball into
the net. Cross after cross were being sent in from Lloyd Kerry on the right and Connor
Gudger on the left but Histon got bodies back in the box and Hinckley could just not
force the ball over the line, dispute having 4 good chances to do so. In the final
minute with Hinckley high up the pitch chasing the game, Dan Holman was sent clear
for Histon on another breakaway and made sure of the result scoring Histon's third goal.
Hinckley United couldn't make a comeback for a third match running as they lost 2-0
to Boston United at York Street.
The two teams were evenly matched on the night and despite a spirited performance from
Hinckley, they were seperated by two good second half goals from Nathan Stainfield and
Danny Sleath for Boston. Andre Gray hit the crossbar for Hinckley, before Jermaine
Clarke saw one of his efforts cleared off the line by a defender, and another hit
the back of the net only to be ruled out for offside. New signing Levi Porter came
on for his debut as a second half substitute.

For the second week running Hinckley United came back from 2-0 down to win a game,
beating Droylsden at the Butchers Arms 2-3. And on a day of firsts, it was the first
time Hinckley had won at Droylsden, and young Jake Holt scored his first senior goal
for the club, with his first touch of the game after coming on as a substitute.
The game didn't start as well as it finished for Hinckley, with the team only arriving
at 2.30pm after getting stuck in traffic on the M6, and starting cold, the team found
themselves losing 2-0 within the first 15 minutes. Danny Haystead missed his catch
from a corner Ciaran Kilheeney headed into the goal before Dale Johnson made it two
for the Bloods chipping Haystead. Hinckley began to get their feet and came more into
the game as the half wore on, Jermaine Clarke seeing Sean Lake save his long range
effort, before Lake pushed away an Andre Grays shot. from the resultant corner Callum
Reynolds headed straight into the arms of Lake. Rob Oddy saw his shot blocked in the
area, with Hinckley players claiming for an handball that was not given, and Newton
missed a good chance to get a goal back when a free kick evaded everyone in the area,
but rebounded off the young midfielder safely for a goal kick. Lake again palmed away
a Clarke shot and from the corner the ball was cleared off the line, and the pressure
finally told as Hinckley did get a goal back. Just before half time Clarke was played
through the middle and 1 on 1 with Lake placed the ball under the keeper.
The second half was end to end with both sides creating chances. Kilheeney turned
the Hinckley defence and his good shot was well saved by Haystead, whilst David Poole
also saw his shot well saved by the Hinckley keeper. Hinckley had two goal bound efforts
blocked by the Bloods defence, and then Reynolds pack pass to Haystead was short,
though the keepr did well to get to the ball before Johnson. Kilheeney tried his
luck from long range, seeing the ball go over the bar and then Hinckley's substitute
made his mark on the game. Jake Holt was brought on in the 75th minute and a quick free
kick saw him played through the middle side footing the ball calmly past Lake with
his first touch of the match, equalising the scores. Kilheeney had the easiest chance
of the game to put Bloods back in the lead when haystead came out and missed the ball,
leaving the Droylsden striker with an open goal, but he somehow poked the ball wide
from 12 yards. Then Johnson also missed when 1 on 1 in the final minute, two chances
wasted giving Hinckley a massive let off that they would punish them for. In the
94th minute with literally the last kick of the game, Danny Newton was sent through
into the area and controlled the ball with his first touch and smashed it past Lake
with his second, giving Hinckley their third consecutive victory and first win at
the Butchers Arms.
Hinckley recorded back to back victories for the first time this season, beating
Halifax Town 3-2 at De Montfort Park, after coming back from 0-2 down.
It was an unchanged team for the first time this season, however it wasn't the greatest
performance to start with. Halifax were certainly better organised and played the ball
around better than Hinckley, who were very narrow and almost inviting Halfix to attack.
Danny Haystead was the busier keeper in the first half, saving a shot from Tom Baker
before Gathering Gregory's header. Baker saw his long range effort go over, and then
Haystead made a superb double save first from a Dan Lowe free kick, and then thwarting
the follow up from Dave Heggerty. It was only a matter of time before Halifax took
the lead, but when they did it wasa bit of a gift from Hinckley's defence. On 35 minutes
Gregory was played through the middle of a static Hinckley defence, and with no defender
tracking back had a free run at goal on the right, opting to lift the ball over the
top of Haystead who was left stranded by his defence. Heggerty had a great chance to
make it 0-2 before the break, but when unmarked headed a Terry Dixon cross wide of
the target.
Hinckley came out for the second half making a change bringing in Danny Newton into
the midfield, but Halifax continued where they left off. Baker saw his shot deflected
onto the outside of the post, and Simon Garner shot wide from a tight angle. The game
looked over on the hour when Halifax added their second, Garner saw his initial shot
saved, however Harry Winter was quickest to the loose ball and followed up giving
Halifax what looked like an unnasailable lead. Sub Danny Newton made his first mark
on the game with a free kick on the edge of the area on 70 minutes, he played the ball
to the back post for Andre Gray to sneak in behind the defence and slot the ball past
Eastwood getting Hinckley back into the game. A bit of belief lifted Hinckley after
the goal and 10 minutes later were level as Halifax crumbled. This time Gray returned
the favour and ran the ball to the line on the right and crossed central for Newton to
make his second mark on the game by heading past Eastwood, who failed to come for the
cross. Amazingly in teh final moments Hinckley managed to win a game they'd looked
like losing for a long time. Newton made his third mark on the game by playing Gray
through the middle and as Gray took the ball past Eastwood the Halifax keeper brought
him down. As he did last week, Luke Dean stepped up and made no mistake from the penalty
spot giving Hinckley a 3-2 win.
After threatening to have a shake up, DT has released a couple of players and a couple
more have gone on loan to get match fitness.
Keenan Meakin-Richards and Jaylee Hodgson have both been released by the club. David
Kolodynski has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent and has subsequently
signed for Leamington. Joe Hull has been loaned to Redditch United for a month, and
Ben Richards-Everton has also gone out on loan for a month, to Sutton Coldfield Town.
DT has brought in a new player too, a defender, Jamal Clarke who signs for the
club from Evesham United. Clarke was previously in the Academy at West Bromwich Albion.
Hinckley United recorded a vital away win in this early relegation battle against
Solihull Moors, winning 1-2 after coming from behind.
Hinckley made changes from the previous match and new loan signings defenders Connor
Gudger and Callum Reynolds started, with new signing Aaron Forde on the bench. Though
the impact was not immediate as Hinckley were one goal behind after only 5 minutes when
Dominic Langdon was unmarked at a corner and headed past Danny Haystead. Phil Midworth
had a 25 yard effort saved by Danny Haystead before Hinckley got back in the game.
Midworth fouled Stuart Hendrie in the area and Luke Dean scored from the penalty spot
equalising for Hinckley. A mistake by Solihull keeper gifted Hinckley a second just
before half time. Jas Singh dropped a ball from a cross and Louis Horne forced the
loose ball over the line giving Hinckley a half time lead.
The second half was scrappy but with a few chances for both sides. For Solihull,
Andre Francis saw his header saved by Haystead, Junior English had his goalbound
effort blocked and Haystead was nearly embarrassed by Simon Johnson when the Solihull
forward sneaked up behind him as the Hinckley keeper rolled the ball out. Hinckley
had the better of the chances with Hendrie seeing his long range effort drift wide
and Dean turned well and shot goalwards, with Singh saving well. Singh was involved
again when he saved a close range header from Jermaine Clarke, but Hendrie followed
as the ball ran free and saw his shot go over. In the final minutes both sides could've
added to the scoreline, Rob Oddy ran in from the left and saw his low drive go past
the wrong side of the post and Joey Butlin was sent through the middle for Solihull,
but his shot was also wide of the target. Hinckley held on to get themselves back
on track.
After the disastrous game at Bishops Stortford, DT has made a few changes both on
and off the pitch. Nicky Platnauer has left the club by mutual consent and has been
replaced as Assistant Manager by Mark Faulkner.
Player wise, Jaylee Hodgson has been released by the club, despite not really being
given a chance. Three players have come in, two on loan and one signed permanent.
Connor Gudger has returned to the club, along with Callum Reynolds, both coming in
on loan from Tamworth. Gudger as we know is a left back, and Reynolds a central
defender. Also joining the club is Aaron Forde, a central midfielder who was captain
of the Walsall Academy side, but struggled to regain position at Walsall after a broken
leg, and was released by the Saddlers last month.
