Leave the M69 at junction 1 and head north on the A5,

the Limekilns Pub, then over the next roundabout. At the Dodwells Bridge

Should you wish to sample some alcholic beverages or take a bite to eat along
the way then have a look at
The Rough Guide Map. Alternatively for something else to do, though there's
not a lot if it's not alcohol, then have a look at the

Hinckley's Railway Station is managed by new company Cross Country Trains. I'm not
certain of their service standards, but let's face it they'd have to be pretty
poor to be any worse than Central Trains. Hinckley Station has a ticket office and waiting room,
but is only open from 7am-3pm. Out of these hours it functions as an unmanned
station ie tickets can be bought on trains.
Hinckley is on the Birmingham to Leicester line and uses the Birmignham-Stanstead
timetable linked above.
The walk to the ground from the train station is approximately 3 miles. So either
take a taxi, or the bus. Station Taxis operate from the er, train station.

Exit the train station into the station carpark then from the carpark entrance
cross over the road and head past the Railway Hotel, up the hill along Station
Road, towards the town centre. Station Road leads into the Market Place and the
town center of Hinckley. At the Market Place turn left and go past 'The Reflex'
(pub) and into Regent Street where the bus terminals are situated. Conveniently
the bus stops are directly in front of 'The Cafe Bar', 'The Baron of
Hinckley' and 'Branagans Bar Diner' (all pubs.) The 81 Bus runs every
15 minutes from Monday to Saturday, with the last bus passing the ground at
approximately 6.05pm. The bus route is shown on the right and also runs past the
'Weavers Arms' and 'Ashby Tavern' (the 2 pubs closest to the Stadium),
and the timetable is shown below. |
|
Please Note: The 159 bus also serves Leicester Road, but only runs hourly up till
6pm, so I haven't given the details for this service. The bus stop for the 81
(and 159) service back into Hinckley town centre, from the ground, is by the
Perimeter Road roundabout. That is out of the Stadium entrance, turn left and
approximately 50 yards further on across the road. |

and carry on as it runs into Park Road all the way to the junction by the Holywell

around to the right into Spa Lane. At the next junction turn right into Leicester
Road, and now comes the trek. Stay on Leicester Road, past a school, past loads
of big houses, past the golf club, down the hill past the rugby and cricket ground
then the Marston Stadium is on your left.
